Literacy Council 101 & Tutor Training
   


Literacy Council 101

Would you like to volunteer to teach an adult to read and/or speak English, or would you just like to learn more about the Literacy Council of Union County? 

 

Take the first step by attending Literacy Council 101 on Monday, April 19 from 6:00-8:00pm, 105-A East Jefferson Street, Monroe.  This informative session will provide valuable insight into the work of the Council, including an overview to tutoring and the commitment required to get started.

Tutor Training

The Literacy Council of Union County will conduct a Basic Tutor Training workshop for volunteers from the community - equipping them to teach an adult to read using the Laubach Literacy method.   

 

Date & Time:  Friday, April 23rd from 6:00-9:00pm & Saturday, April 24th from 9:00am-4:00pm

 

Place:  The Literacy Council of Union County 105-A E. Jefferson Street, Monroe

 

The two sessions together prepare you to teach both English-speaking adults to read and immigrant adults to read, write, speak, and understand English.  Foreign language aptitude and/or degree not required!  For the Saturday session, please bring a sandwich.  Drinks and snacks are provided.
