If you can read, you can teach someone to read.


The Literacy Council of Union County provides training for anyone who would like to participate in our program. After completing the training, you can become a tutor and help change someone's life.

Volunteer Tutor Training Workshops Schedule

Free Labauch Literacy Tutor Training for adults
will be offered at South Piedmont Community College,

4209 Old Charlotte Hwy, Monroe, NC

Friday, October 21, 6:30 to 9:30 PM and
Saturday October 22, 9 AM to 4 PM
.

Friday night sessions will begin with how to teach non-English speaking adults to speak, understand, read, and write English.
Presenters: Kelly Norton and Cindy Patterson

Saturday sessions will continue with how to teach reading and writing to both English speaking and foreign-born adults.
Presenter:  Kelly Norton

To teach English as a Second Language, both the Friday and Saturday sessions are required.

To teach an English-speaking adult to read, only the Saturday session is required.

For the Saturday session, please bring a sandwich. Drinks and snacks will be provided.

Training sessions are based on the Laubach Way to Reading series.
